Lip Syncing Self Review
Although
I did not lip sync, I did film all the different shots of the music
video. Unfortunately, we were not able to film all the locations
wanted as we run out of time and it started raining. Again, I was not
able to record any evidence to show myself filming unfortunately. I
have realised the importance of framing, as I had to repeat a lot of
times when filming since there were huge unwanted gas. I realised how
I would like for my group to use a projection as one of their shots
when filming as it looks quite creative and effective in a video. I
also made sure that I filmed at different angles and distances. We
only used a tripod once in one shot when filming, however, without
the tripod it looked more natural and not too messy where the camera
kept moving a lot. I found holding the camera without the tripod to
be quite tiring as I had to hold it for a minute and my hands got
quite tired. Also I found it quite hard to stay still. When filming,
I made sure that we did not start or finish half way through the 50
seconds of the songs but instead shot the whole way through. This was
essential when creating a music video as we did not want to take the
risk of not having enough shot, despite not using 80% of them in the
end.

RESEARCH: Lip Synching Task
Before creating our music video, we had to learn how to film a lip sync and then edit it using Final Cut Pro. The song we have chosen to use is XX-You Got the Love.

RESEARCH: Review of Base Track in Final Cut Pro
Unfortunately, I have forgotten to take screen shots of me editing the intro of a music video in Final cut Pro. But what I can say was that it was very hard to do as I did not have a good sense of rhythm. This was because I was not able to hear the beating of the drum to know how to create a steady base track. Although I knew how to edit it all out I couldn’t finish the task as it took long for me to create the base track. I have learnt how to vital it is to film the singer/band playing the song from beginning to end so you have a lot of options and choice when deciding what shot to use for each base track. Also, by watching a tutorial on how to do this, I realised it was important to hear the artist sing the song therefore her lip synching could match with the original song. Finally, I learnt how you should have the original song in mp3 format as this is the main sound you would be using. And when you are editing, you should mute the sound of all the other footage since they’re singing is not required or heard in the music video.

RESEARCH: A2 Music Video Review
Having looked at these videos, I would like for my group and I to create a very interesting and creative music video using Adobe After Effects. Also, I have to make sure we use a wide range of Camera Shots, especially close ups when the artist is performing.
RESEARCH: Mise En Scene
Timeline of location, props and costume of three different music video (above)
I have realised in the pop genre, artist change their costumes alot, and the setting to, creating a vivid and bright video for the audience. However, grime and rock/gothic metal are more serious and focus on telling a story rather than caring about the amount or the latest costume to wear. They seam more 'cheaper' to create than pop as they require less location, costume and lighting.

RESEARCH: Genre
As we live in the UK, I realised Dubstep and Grime is an easy genre to create a video for. I can understand that death metal is a hard video to create due to the emotions involved. But I would hope to create music video that contains the genre of Pop or Electric, e.g Florence and the Machine.

review of favorite previous student video
This song is good because it has a lot of lip syncing and the colors flow well with the music. The lighting was interesting they also used an unique concept.
I felt that the way the video was presented was very fitting to the genre of music they were trying to portray. The work had a lot of evidence that there was a lot of planning before hand, directing and editing was top notch and i enjoyed it. Favorite scene was when the actor was in the trees lip syncing like she was singing the song.
I feel like this video demonstrates what should we try to avoid while making a rap video. I don't think the video was lip synced very well which made the song feel separated from the video. Also, I feel that the video was poorly shot and edited.

Mulvey's theory.
Laura Mulvey:
From what i understand, she explains there's a sexual imbalance as in men are the dominant force and how it means that they have control over females, which means that the female is passive and submit to the mans determining gaze.
In which females in media or just life, have to look a certain way, in a way transforms the female into something that the men want. there sexual desire.
- anaconda Even though Niki minaj is a serial offender of this, based on her lyrics she talks about a man who’s rich and how she made her body look how he wanted: corus is “anaconda don't want none unless you got buns hun” basically in the simplest form. I dont want you, unless you have a big butt, (anaconda means penis),0:56-1:32 With a few shots of her body being cut up but mostly of her butt, she then proceeds to give the rapper drake a lap dance as he eyes her up and down and tries to touch her, drakes look is just showing the casual mens gaze(he eyes her up and down staring at her curves.) 3:36 Theres so much poses of her in this video which can show the laura mulvey theory but il just draw your attention to the main scene 3:27-4:38 is the scene with the lap dance which shows how the men gaze works and how she has to dress accordingly to how he wants her to look and as you can see he likes it. Schoolboy q is one of my favourite rappers but to be honest i can’t stand his music videos, i end up paying more attention to the rappers than his rapping. The song is basically him being surrounded with attractive women who dont wear a lot of clothes that he can look at as much as he wants because he has a lot of money.
where do i start…
From the indulging opening at 0:13 we have a slow mo of the girls as they run onto the beach, not only is this showing us what they're wearing, it's also slowing down so we have time to analyze there bodys and because of the revealing bikinis. To 0:20 were we proceed to see a slow mo of the womans butt.
During the chorus he says “bruh i see girls everywhere titty ass hands in the air” which is basically saying theres girls and he's only interested in those parts of there bodys,
at 1:31 theres a slow mow of the girls lover half no head just body, this pictures kind of symbolic in a sense it shows more drastically that the head isn't important is all to do with the curves.
136-139 as he leads the girl out he eyes her up from head to toe, showing thats what hes most interested in.

Reflecting back on the As year
In June i learned about how a music video portrays things in different ways and is influenced allot by the artist, i have bad memory but i remember that depending on the genre of music effects whats portrayed through Mise en scene; like rap has women money and cash etc.
i learnt a lot about the differences between movies and music videos such as, that also there's a big money difference between a film and a music video because some movies can cost up to 280 million; avatar was speculated to cost that much.
most expensive music video was around 10 million; Michael jackson scream.
Technical skills i learnt.
.how to use a camera.
.how to edit and produce a short trailer for a film in final cut pro.
.how to market through social devices.
